Splace Architecture is an emerging architectural practice intended to provoke innovative and human centred designs by adopting a rather analytical and evidence-based approach to architectural synthesis.
Splace Architecture founded based on the belief that space should be considered as an intrinsic aspect of human spatial behaviour. Thus, Splace approach to architecture rejects the common consideration of space as a mere receptor of several human practices and approaches architecture from the inside out. Specifically, it aims at carefully orchestrating human spatial behaviours by jointly considering spatial configuration, human needs, topological and environmental aspects in an analytical framework.
Splace Architecture collaborates with highly skilled professionals to achieve the successful realization of each project. Splace Architecture is currently working on several projects in residential, educational, industrial, commercial, brand and interior design spectrum.

Process
Our working method involves the simultaneous exploration of architectural synthesis and architectural research, delving into a wide range of issues related to the built environment and human spatial behavior. This complementary relationship drives our creative process at Splace Architecture. Our architectural process is collaborative, engaging with the users of our projects, and as a result, our workspace blurs the boundaries between working, presenting, and meeting.
Design Philosophy
Our design methodology thrives from our core values. We approach space as a complex and dynamic entity which operates as an intrinsic aspect of human spatial behaviour. Thus, we combine a wide spectrum of tools, theories & analyses that go beyond the apparent physical, functional or aesthetic parameters that govern architectural composition. At the same time, our pre-design activities with our clients help us and guide us along the design process.

ARCHITECTURE
‘Architecture should be like clothing. It should not only suit you well but also fit you properly.’ – Herman Herzberger. We approach architecture as a Sudoku-like process, meticulously placing each element in accordance with its relationship to the whole. In that sense, while designing we prioritize the dynamic interplay between the built environment and human behavior. With this overarching principle, we offer a diverse range of architectural services for various building types, including residential, commercial, educational, industrial, and retail.
CONSULTATION
We approach architecture as both an analytical and a synthetic process. Thus, we offer a wide array of consulting services related to pre-development evaluations, spatial analysis, behavioral understanding through an evidence-based design framework
INTERIOR DESIGN
Physical settings “evoke complex human responses in the form of feelings, attitudes, values, expectancies and desires” (Proshansky et.al., 1970, p.28). Thus, we approach interior design as integrated into our architectural intentions. However, we could also offer additional and more detailed services depending on the scope of the project.
VISUALISATIONS, AR
The message is the medium’ (McLuhan, 1964). For us, visualizations are not only representational tools but also convey the meaning behind an architectural solution. As such, we meticulously produce in-house visualizations that align with the concept and scope of each project.
Founder
Chrystala Psathiti
Dr. Chrystala Psathiti, the founder of splace Architecture, is a practicing architect with more than 10 years of experience and a member of the Cyprus Scientific Technical Chamber. She holds a PhD from the University of Cyprus, an MSc in Spatial Design: Architecture & Cities from the Bartlett, UCL London and a DiplArch from the University of Cyprus. She is currently a Lecturer in Architectural Design and Theory at Neapolis University Pafos and a researcher at the University of Cyprus. She was also a Visiting PhD Student at the Bartlett School of Architecture and her PhD thesis was funded by the National Scholarship Foundation of Cyprus and the Youth Board Cyprus. Her research and design work explore the interplay between human spatial behaviour and built environment, between academia and practice as well as evidence-based design approaches. Chrystala’s work has published in international journals, conferences, electronic magazines and exhibitions such as the 13th International Exhibition La Biennale De Venezia and the 1st Architecture Biennale of Thessaloniki. She participated in various architectural competitions and received an honourable mention at the Architectural Competition for the creation of the cultural village of Lempa.

Nikolas Georgoudis
Nikolas holds a Diplarch from Neapolis University Pafos. His research and design work explore the boundaries of architecture through the interplay between the physical and the virtual world. He excels in spatial visualization and utilizes cutting-edge software tools to enhance the communication of design concepts.

Fani is an architect and urban designer. She studied architecture at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), holds a Master’s in Urban Design from ETH Zürich, an MRes in Spatial Design: Architecture and Cities and a PhD from The Bartlett, UCL London.
Dr. Petros Koutsolambros
Petros studied Architectural Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, holds an MSc from Adaptive Architecture and Computation and a PhD from The Bartlett, UCL London. Petros is exploring patterns of human behaviour in buildings and their relationship to the properties of space.
